Dressed Sweater.

Hi everyone! Happy Holidays! Tired of Christmas Shopping yet? I am! I keep in mind, however, that the Holiday season is the season of giving and the season to practice your bargain hunting skills. This posting is my last before Christmas and contrary to the festive colors around this holiday, my outfit stuck to simply black and gray.

This might be my most comfortable and effortless dressed-up outfit. It is truly a staple to have the famous "LBD" in your closet. Infact, I believe that every woman should have at least two or three of these LBDs in their closet. It is such a great canvas piece. I say canvas because the simplicity of it, the easiness and the fact that it is a neutral gives you a blank slate. There so many ways you can dress them up or down.
Let's proceed to the three types of LBDs I think a woman should have.
LBD #1: Casual Cotton Black Dress-that is illustrated in this posting. A cotton LBD is something that you can wear as a layering piece during the colder seasons or something you can wear in a casual party, on a shopping trip with your flats or flipflops, on a lunch date with a cross-body bag and leather jacket and a good pair of boots maybe...you see, LBDs are not strictly for evening anymore. The stretch of the cotton, the casual fabric and a simple fit is great for an occassion where you don't want to have as much constrictions.
LBD #2: Sexy Evening Black Dress- this is you LBD to impress! Something fitted to the body, a dress that will make you look so mysteriously sexy that you just cannot go wrong with it. This could be your go-to dress, the dress you wear on a date, the dress you wear on a night out.
LBD #3: The Classic-yes, every woman MUST have a classic, clean line black dress. This is the LBD you wear under a blazer for a meeting at the office, the LBD you wear on a company party, the LBD you wear on a dinner night with your boyfriend's family, the dress you wear with black pumps and pearls for that Jackie O look.

Merry Christmas everyone!!! I hope you all have a great holiday and once again, thank you so much for reading!

Cardigan: Romeo & Juliet Couture
LBD (#1): H&M
Black Pumps: Mossimo (Target)
Belt: Forever21

Soft, Rough, Edge, Tough.

Hello everyone! Oh, we had fun with this shoot...I had fun with the entire outfit. Is it so conceited of me if I actually enjoy and take it to heart everyone's compliments?! I really hope not because I super do!

It's really great to like what you're wearing for the day, you come out of the house smiling and even when your hair is not perfectly combed, you don't think about it so much because you think you can just "wing it!" My play in textures today did just that to me. Brightened up my day and made me care less about the bad hairday I'm having (haha). What made this day even brighter is the amount of good, pleasant comments I got from people at work to the few women at the mall. I think that us, women actually apprecaite it so much more when another woman says something nice about what we're wearing.

I played with so many different textures today and I love how it kind of actually relfected me! The tweed is the rough, the denim is the tough, the suede is for richness and the chiffon top for the softness and sweetness. I'm all of that! Great advise, remember that sometimes what you wear is a great expression of who you are or what you want to be.

Thank you all for reading and letting me share some of my emotions and thoughts today!

That's so 70's.

Happy Friday everybody! I apologize that it's been taking me longer to make new posts in the blog but December has been crazy, from me getting sick to the busy schedule at work to christmas shopping.
I will try my bestest to make up for it the next few days and will take time to take pictures and write new postings:)

Our theme for this outfit as the title says is the 70's. Amazing era, the bell-bottom pants and the crazy prints...it is truly a great era to use as imagination and I did just that by pairing this Nordstrom Rack find top ($20!) with a ultra flare jeans from True Religion.

I love that fashion is like a cycle but with each turn trends evolve and comes out better. Almost all trends from the 50's 60's and 70's took it's turn for a big come back--the bell-bottom jeans, jean jacket, the leggings, the highwaist pants, etc. This particular top has the print and somewhat the same of the 70's top but I just fell in love with the lace detail and the asymmetrical bottom. This top is light, flowy, just have a comfort in it. It worked out great for a casual friday look.

Be inspired guys!

Shiny, Sunny, Fall.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I would just like to share something that I heard from mass yesterday and I am sharing this in hope to inspire everyone out there to do what you love, to take a chance and to have the confidence on who and what you are. "Flourish and Nurture What God Gave to You." It was later elaborated and it was said that God blessed us with talents and capabilities and it is within us to enhance or to improve what we are given.

It has always been a dream of mine to be in the fashion scene, however, life doesn't always turns out the way you planned or the way you dreamed it would be, fate is not always kind. This blog, although not world wide, not as popular as others, not as many followers or readers compared to most, brought a certain fulfillment of what I wanted to be, where I wanted to be. Doing this, to others might seem irrelevant, but to me, it is me nurturing what I was given, it is me having a passion and actually doing something about it. I hope to those who are fearful or doubtful can break through that fear and doubt and do the same, if not fashion, maybe in photography or arts or maybe you're a gifted journalist or a performer, whatever it maybe or you maybe, that's a gift, share it to others. :)

Our featured look for today is my attempt to show that sheen/shine can certainly work for the day. Most assume that sheen/shine is strictly for evening but with some adjustments in colors that will not be the case anymore. On this becautiful sunny fall day, weather was perfect, it was not too cold and you can smell and see the change in season. For my day look, I wore this silver sequined top from Forever 21 and paired it with my bargain white slacks (worth $5!) and taupe/brown faux leather jacket also from Forever 21. I opted for a red lip which popped out of the neutral colors I chose for the look.

Ruffle, Color and Pearls.

Hello everyone! I hope everybody had a great weekend! I certainly did! I spent this weekend with my girlfriends and bonded over shopping, dining and short partying at night. I just want to share how great it is to have such amazing girlfriends, not only are they fun to have around but they too influence my fashion sense, they offer a lending hand when I'm having a fashion emergency. This weekend, I did not prepare a nightout outfit thinking that I will be able to get and find what I would wear for the evening at our afternoon shopping trip, but sadly, I did not find the items I wanted. To the rescue of course are my girls who offered me a bunch of options from their own luggage and I was able to come up with an outfit! Love them! :D

Now let's go to my featured look, this is a chic end of the week look. Fridays are usually my dress up days instead of it being casual, possibly because of two reasons: 1, I am excited for the weekend and just inspired, and 2, because I usually go out with friends or family after the work day is over.
Again, my love for colors is showcased in this look. I paired my thrifted my blazer ($3) with my yet another bargain find at forever 21 pants (for $10.50!).

City Chic.

This might possibly be my favorite look thus far. It combined all that I love in one outfit: Leopard Print, Color, Tights and overall chicness! This dress from Zara is something I wear all the time, you have seen this in previous posting and in my video blog, and I still can't get enough of it. There's really so much you can do with this. For this look, I layered this dress with a pink button down shirt and it just popped out of the dress and such it's such a great detail to this look. Also, since the weather is now in the lows I got to wear my Forever21 coat again. I got this coat last year and has been a favorite since then. I just love the chunky gold buttons and the classyness of it and how it vamps a traditional black coat.

OOTD: Pleats and Prints

My dearest Main Man is really so nice to me lately (well always) and he offered to do my Out of the Day Video and I am ecstatic as he is way more artistic that I can ever be when it comes to these things. A big shout out to him for doing it for me and of course for taking all my pictures in the blog, he is such a great support. I share to him all the good things the blog has brought to me and he never fails to share the joy with me. This is a fruit of his hard work as well and for anyone interested he does do portraits and videos and you can see some of his work at www.flickr.com/photos/jrhalili.

Blackened.

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've done a post on OOTD (outfit of the day) and I truly missed it. The fall weather have arrived. This a breezy, a little bit rainy day and I totally forgot to bring a jacket. That, however, worked to my advantage as I got to showcase this simple and comfortable top from Zara. I do adore the zipper detail in the back. Paired with a good, warm scarf and I'm ready to face fall!

Halloween Special.

Happy Halloween everyone! I just had to do a pairing video inspired by halloween. I included a couple of costume ideas in this video and I hope that it will be helpful to you guys somehow, but my main purporse to this video is to give you guys some ideas on using RTW clothing into a costume and utilizing it for other occassions as well. Thank you all for reading and in this case, watching! <3

Sheer and Dear.

This is a pairing video with my newest favorite top, sheer and pink from forever 21. There are many including my mom (haha) that is not a big fan of color but that should not stop you from getting it as it can play as an accent, and if you happen to love color like me, it is such a great way to catch attention and just like any plain item it can always work as a canvas for accessories and patterns. Here are some ways to dress up or dress down your favorite colored sheer top!

Dreaming of Another Place.

I have always dreamt of going to Europe and that's simply my inspiration for this particular look. I adore that they have such a peculiar way of dressing but somehow it works. I love that they exude glamour. However, I went totally opposite with this outfit and decided to use their school girl look as my inspiration. The high socks, the blazer, the oxfords. I thought I looked rather young in this number but it was worth trying out.

The playfullness in this outfit really came from the accessories. I am wearing such basic colors, navy, khaki and white but paired my blazer shorts look with two sets of tights. I added knee high socks with my more translucent tights and wore it with my oxford inspired heels.

I kept everything else simple and sometimes making a statement can be done with just one part of your look. I certainly received some comments on the sock/tights combination.

Outfit of the Day: Leopard Print Top and Electric Blue Pleated Pants

Happy Sunday everyone! It was another time well spent with the family. The family went for a Sunday Lunch for my two sisters. I just love our outfit of the day, I thought that it was so attention grabbing because of the colors and prints. Our top is from Zara ($25) that I got yesterday and our bottoms was purchased by mom from http://www.asos.com/ ($17). I particularly love my pants here that mimics a skirt as well and I thought it made me look at least 5inches taller! Maybe that's just my shoes though?! I am wearing platforms by Jessica Simpson and it is so comfortable as high as it is.
I do apologize for the audio in this video as it was a windy day and that kind of interfered with our audio. I hope you guys enjoy this video and the rest of your weekend!

Sad news of the day? J. Crew did not have that good of a sale so I only ended up getting a necklace and ring.

Day out in the City.

I honestly think that my inspiration for doing this blog and even having the confidence of dressing the way I do comes from my amazing family. They have been so supportive with all of this ever since I started until now and basically, anytime I spend with them is a time well spent.
Today we spent sometime in the Rittenhouse Square area of Philadelphia and amazingly, my dad has never been here so it's great that he got to come with us. My sisters and mom really thought about their outfits as well and I just love going out with them and not feeling that I'm over dressed! It was a great day and I hope you guys enjoy this short video as well, have a blessed weekend everyone!

Blocking the Road.

How much do I love this outfit?! After including it in my most recent video, I decided to actually wear it at work and I got an enormous amount of compliments with this one. I just love the trend of color blocking, I think it allows you to be more noticeable, captures such positive attention.

I also particularly love the gold accessories and how it just pops out of the colors I am wearing, it is classy and chic.

I put my hair up on a bun in attempt to go all the way professional, I think it went perfectly with the outfit and the look that I was going for. I hope you guys have a good weekend and thanks for reading!

Black, Lace and Race Back.

Every so often as I think about how I can update and make the blog better, I find myself challenging my fashion creativeness. The newest challenge is doing a new page strictly for the Young Professionals: How you can incorporate the trends in an office attire, you can update your corporate look. So for those young or even those who are not so young but are looking to update your corporate attires, please look out for my newest page.

For this posting, my inspiration is a text message I got from my coworker who excitedly shared to me about a style TV show that said "Monochromatic Looks are In." The next morning, I was staring at my closet for about 15minutes trying to formulate some kind of an outfit for another work day and it finally occurred to me that monochromatic looks are in! Ha! Took my black pants and paired it with another black thing, how easy was that?!

My top here is actually a vest (bargain find for $5!) and I totally love it for all the details it has. The ruffles towards the bottom and the lace at the back and even it's race back style. I paired it with a cropped F21 pants and some red details to break off the monochromatic look hence accentuating the waist.

*Wink* *Wink* This is a good look for my newest challenge! During the day at the office, I can wear this with a blazer or I can wear the vest with a sleeved shirt to a more appropriate work look.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Black Suede Shoes.

I finally found time to shoot again and this time, I have a featured item: Black Suede Wedge Ankle Boots. This particular item is from Steve Madden and is a recent addition to my growing shoe collection. I have worn it several times and have gotten so many compliments on it and questions on where I purchased it from, with that, I thought that this will be a perfect featured item.

I hope you guys enjoy the video and please subscribe to my youtube page as well! <3<3<3

Going back to Classics.

I cannot remember the last time I wore something simple and classic and I had just forgotten how good you can look with the littlest effort. For this workday, I ran out of ideas and could not find my fashionspiration, which led me to go back to my classics.

The cleanest lines and the absence of prints gave about an underwhelming yet sophisticated look.
